Biography
My name is Herman van der Kooij. I was born in 1970 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Twente (M.Sc. 1995) where I also performed my Ph.D. research in the area of human balance control (Ph.D. suma cum laude 2000). In 2001 I got a personal grant (VENI) with which I started a new research line in the field of robotic aided neuro rehabilitation. In 2002 I realized a human performance virtual reality laboratory that is being used to train and study human motor control.
